beach reads

While away last week in the Outer Banks I spent alot of time with my 4 year old walking along the shore looking for seashells. While walking I couldnt help but notice so many people reading. A few books that I noticed were Middlesex (suprisingly the 2nd choice of my bookgroup for Sept), A cup of Comfort for the Nurse, and a few Danielle Steel novels. One of my friends Kathy who shared the house with us was reading The Middle Place, a book about a young woman who has breast cancer and at the same time her father also gets cancer. I had read it in the past year and found it to be good.

What have you read this summer?

I don't know about you, but to me this summer has flown by! As we approach the last few weeks of August I have come to the realization that I have only read about 3-4 books. Which included "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch-what an inspiring book. As a nurse who has taken care of cancer patients, I really had an appreciation for his optimism and advice. I also read the new Debbie Macomber book "Twenty Wishes" I love her books and find them to be just what I need sometimes after reading a real intense book. If you have never read one of her books, I guarantee you will be hooked if you like a good romance novel sometimes. On vacation last week I read "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult talk about intense! I love her books and have been hooked ever since reading "My Sisters Keeper" I couldnt put "The Pact" down and wow what an ending!! What did you read this summer?

book reccomendation

A Friend of mine whom I met through Stampin Up! is a librarian at a university here in New Jersey. She posted on her stampin blog a book called " My Best Friends Girl" by Dorothy Koomson. She said it was one of those books she "couldnt put down." Off to Barnes and Noble later-will have to check it out! Have you read it?

My bookgroup

I belong to a great Mothers Group here in central New Jersey.I highly recoomend joining one if you are a mom who needs to connect with other moms, the support is amazing. I also head the bookgroup for this group. It is made up of about 13-15 moms all who share a passion for reading. Not bad considering when I started the bookgroup it only consisted of 3 of us. All of whom im proud to say are all still members. For September we are reading " A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. I have always wanted to read this book. Somehow I must have went to a non progressive high school (High Point Regional, class of 1990) because we never had to read this book! Many of my fellow memebers are reading it for the 2nd or 3rd time. Anyway im really enjoying it. Let me know what you think of this book.Did you have to read it in high school?
